Cycle through some of the best natural MTB trails in Europe while experiencing incredible cultural sites sampling the best local gourmet food and wine.

Day 1: Girona

Arrival and check in at the hotel with processing of travel documentation. We take a stroll through the historic centre of Girona from it’s impressive cathedral to the labyrinth of streets in the ancient Jewish quarter. Discover the Arabic Baths or the Romanesque Monastery and get a fascinating insight into the different people and cultures that successively occupied the city. Accommodation in a luxury city centre hotel and dinner within walking distance.

Day 2: Girona – Sant Feliu de Guíxols (45 km)

We begin our adventures following the banks of the river Onyar and the brightly painted building façades which are emblematic of Girona. Our route takes us on the green track of the railway, passing through the picturesque towns of Quart, Cassà de la Selva, Llagostera and Santa Cristina de Aro. Our backdrop is the Gavarres Massif, a mountainous forest area formed mostly by cork oaks whose bark is used in the local wine industry. We take in beautiful sea views as we descend into Sant Feliu de Guíxols.

Day 3: Sant Feliu de Guíxols – Calella de Palafrugell (30 km)

Today our route follows the coast in the direction of Calella passing through the bay of Palamós. We visit the chambering fishing villages of Playa de Aro and Palamós and sample the local seafood cuisine fresh from the sea that day. We also visit the beach of Castell, with its ancient Iberian ruins. Tonight’s luxury accommodation is in the old fishing village of Calella, for an authentic experience of relaxed seaside life. Alternative option for longer version of 47km for those looking for more adventurous mountain terrain through the Gavarres massif.

Day 4: Calella de Palafrugell – Torroella de Montgri (29 km)

Our route continues north passing through places of exceptional interest such as the medieval villages of Pals and Torroella de Montgrí. We traverse the scenic rice fields and irrigation canals of Pals with the opportunity to visit the rice mill where rice cultivation dates back to 1452. We can sample the traditional Catalonian rice dish of arròs negre.

Day 5: Torroella de Montgri – Castelló d’Empúries (36 km)

Our route continues northbound towards the Empordà plain in a long but easy stage. We pass through the medieval town of Bellcaire d’Empordà and continue along the coast to visit the historic site of San Martí d’Empúries and the famous Greek and Roman ruins of Empúries. We also have the option to visit the beautiful fishing village of l’Escala. We discover the medieval town of Peralada, famous for its important wine and cava production and make a visit to the wine museum. Our destination tonight is Castelló Empúries, capital of Empúries county for 4 centuries and close to the Aiguamolls de l’Empordà Natural Park.

Day 6: Loop of Castelló d’Empúries (37 km)

Today we take a circular route through the principal wine region of the Costa Brava. In the first section we take in the Aiguamolls del Empordà, an important refuge and bird nesting area. The route offers a fantastic view over the Pyrenees as a backdrop while pedaling through centuries-old vineyards. We visit the villages of Pau and Vilajuïga. Today we sample the best local wines and learn about the wine producing process with a gourmet picnic tasting local products in the Espelt winery.

Day 7: Castelló d’Empúries – Figueres (43 km)

We set off for medieval town and castle of Peralada and continue through the mature vineyards of Garriguella, Vilamaniscle and Rabos with a visit to the modernist winery of Cooperativa Espolla. We then enjoy a long descent to our final destination to the town of Figueres, the birthplace of surrealist artist Salvador Dalí. Here we visit the world famous Theater-Museum, designed by the artist himself housing the largest and most diverse collection of his works. We stay in a luxury boutique hotel and enjoy our farewell dinner.

Day 8: Return & Onward Bound

We have a nourishing breakfast on the final day of our tour with the option of train connection to Barcelona airport or private shuttle as requested.
