The bicycle tour through Rioja and Ribera del Duero is a historical journey through the vineyards of the Ebro River, visiting wineries, charming villages and castles, enjoying its gastronomy and its excellent local wines.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Itinerary

Día 1: Madrid – Burgos – El Ciego (18 km)

  • Pick up from Madrid airport with private transfer. 

    Burgos: Stop to visit the wonderful cathedral and enjoy some tapas.

    La Rioja: Arrival and check in at the hotel.

    Circular bicycle route of 18 km.

    Gourmet dinner, within walking distance of the hotel, where we begin our tasting experience of some of the best wines of the region.

Day 2: Tour of the Vineyards and Wineries of La Rioja (51 km)

We cross the Rioja Alavesa valley, where the most famous wineries are located and stop at some of them. 

We pass through the picturesque village of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, visiting the historic castle and church. 

We visit the town of Haro, the wine capital of Rioja. 

For lunch we tour a modern winery inside, with wine tasting.

In the village of El Ciego, we will visit the gardens of the Hotel Marqués de Riscal, with its innovative architecture, designed by the renowned architect Frank Gehry.

Day 3: Logroño - Nájera - Santo Domingo de la Calzada (50 km)

After a hearty breakfast, we start pedaling through the most beautiful villages and roads of La Rioja. 

On our way to Santo Domingo de la Calzada, we contemplate the spectacular views of the surrounding vineyards and mountains as we cross the Camino de Santiago. 

We stop for lunch at a picturesque vineyard where we experience, first hand, the winemaking process and taste gourmet food and wine. 

In the afternoon, we travel by private transport to the charming walled town of Laguardia, the fortified, medieval capital of Rioja.

 

 

Day 4: El Ciego – San Millán de la Cogolla (45 km)

We will cycle to S. Millán de la Cogolla, where the monastery of S. Millán de Yuso and the monastery of Suso are located.

We will transfer by car to the beautiful Parador de Lerma, a converted palace where our excellent dinner will be combined with the prestigious wines that they themselves produce and whose vital process we have witnessed, from the vine to our glass.

 

 

Day 5: Santo Domingo de Silos – La vid (46 km)

We leave the heritage village of Santo Domingo de Silos, whose historic Benedictine monastery has existed since 954. 

We cross beautiful open country, with a mix of lush vineyards and mountainous landscapes. 

We move on to the neighboring village of La Vid, home to the magnificent monastic site of Santa María de la Vid.

 

 

Day 6: Sepúlveda – Pedraza (41 km)

In the morning, we will make a 1-hour transfer by private transport to the medieval village of Pedraza. 

Our route will take us to the Romanesque city of Segovia.

 

Day 7: Segovia – Madrid

We´ll visit Segovia, one of the most picturesque cities in Spain, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

We will tour the city walls and the river that surrounds the city, before passing under the impressive Roman aqueduct, one of the best preserved in the world. 

After a gourmet lunch of local cuisine, we will continue to Madrid.
