BENASQUE – ENDURO
The Benasque valley, also called the “Hidden Valley”, in the province of Huesca, is a magical place for riding enduro. It sits at the foot of the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park, home to the summit of Aneto, the highest peak in the Pyrenees at 3,404 meters. The area is surrounded by huge mountain massifs where most of the Pyrenean glaciers are still preserved.
The climate is typical of any high-mountain location. Winters are cold and the presence of snow keeps us off most of the trails. However, for the rest of the year conditions are perfect for enjoying our bikes.
The villages we’ll travel through, mainly Castejón de Sos and Benasque, are typical mountain villages with a charming mountain atmosphere. These are places whose main source of income is snow, specifically the Cerler ski resort.
TRAILS
Lc. This project was born in 2013 and has kept growing ever since, now reaching 29 routes and more than 700km of ridable trails. Also, the frequent hosting of competitions in the surrounding towns confirms Puro Pirineo as one of the leading MTB enduro hubs nationwide.
Our tour includes more than fifteen different descents through countless types of terrain and scenery. Probably the best-known descent in the area is the Integral del Gallinero, not only for its 1000+ meters of elevation drop and 10 km distance, but also because it features the most representative terrain of the area: it starts with fast, flowy meadows, continues through a technical section of red stone slabs, and finishes through lush forests of pine, boxwood… a truly unique experience!
THE TRIP
The trip begins by picking you up at the airport. The closest ones to Benasque are Barcelona and Zaragoza, but we can also pick you up at the airport or any hotel in Madrid, where our headquarters are.
From there we’ll take you to the hotel where we’ll stay during our trip. We always choose hotels that are specifically set up to welcome bikes. In Benasque many of the hotels cater to a cycling crowd, offering all kinds of amenities: a secure place to store bikes, a hose, basic tools…
Of course, during the day we’ll take you to discover the best trails in the area in our van with a bike trailer. Unlimited shuttle lifts, as much as your legs can take!
In the evenings we’ll take you to any restaurant you’d like for dinner if you wish, and finally, once the tour is over, we’ll drop you back off at the airport or hotel.
