ALPS ENDURO – LES GETS

The Portes du Soleil resort is located in the western Alps and most of its trails are on French territory. However, to visit Champéry – Morgins we’ll need to travel over to the Swiss side.

Morzine is a magical place, surrounded by mountains wherever you look. A true postcard.

Being high-mountain territory, it’s no surprise that a summer storm rolls through every now and then, which leaves the terrain in perfect condition and keeps the trails in great shape throughout the season.

Morzine is the heart of Portes du Soleil. This town is home to the main lodging, restaurants, supermarkets, bike shops, and more. It’s the area with the most amenities and the best biker atmosphere, which is why we chose it as our base for the whole trip.

THE TRIP

Transport. To start with, you can forget about the hassle of flying with your bike. In the days before the trip you can drop your bike off at our headquarters and we’ll take care of getting it there by road, with the utmost care, all the way to our destination in the Alps. That way, all you’ll have to worry about is catching a flight to Geneva (the closest airport to LES GETS), where we’ll pick you up in a private vehicle and take you to our accommodation. For the trip back to Spain, we’ll drop you at the airport and take care of returning your bike.

Lodging. The most common type of accommodation in Les Gets, for travelers with bikes, are chalets. Most are set up with spacious garages, hoses, a washer, dryer, etc. We always choose the accommodations best set up to welcome cyclists.

Bike parks. As for access to the bike parks, they’re all connected to each other and there are 19 chairlifts (or gondolas, in some cases) in total. From Morzine, where we’ll be staying, we have the “Super Morzine” and “Le Pléney” chairlifts, through which we can reach the rest of the bike parks, with the exception of the Morgins area, which is “isolated” from the rest of the Portes du Soleil resort. To visit this area, we’ll travel there in our MTBSPAIN vehicle.

Bike and Luggage Transport

MTB Spain will handle the transport and logistics of both the luggage and the safekeeping of the bike on the Madrid-Les Gets-Madrid leg. You may bring one bike, luggage up to 10 kilograms, and a bag with helmet and protective gear. All luggage will be handed over in Madrid, where it will be carefully labeled with each client’s name. Once at the destination, it will be the client’s responsibility to ensure the safekeeping of their bike during the week’s stay.

Bike Parks

Each of the bike parks that make up Portes du Soleil has its own character:

Morzine has one gondola (the famous Le Pléney) and barely four “official” descents. However, Morzine’s main feature is the countless secret descents it offers, very steep and very technical. We’ll help you find them.

Les Gets has two chairlifts and a gondola and is probably the bike park with the most descents. The vast majority are artificial-style trails with plenty of berms and tabletops. It’s also the perfect place to bring the little ones, since it has several zones specially built for them.

Avoriaz, located between Morzine and Châtel, might seem like a “pass-through” bike park. However, it would be unfair not to recognize that it has a few very fun zones with their own character, such as the Zore chairlift area, where we find several descents, both natural ones with roots, and artificial ones with jumps. This is where you’ll find the most famous tabletop in Portes du Soleil.

Châtel is probably the most complete bike park in terms of variety of descents in the whole resort. Through its two chairlifts, you can access descents of every kind: natural and steep, like “Châ Nada”; artificial with huge berms and tabletops, like the famous “Vink Line”; or with bridges and jumps, like “Black Shore”. Without a doubt, Châtel leaves no one indifferent.

Champéry – Morgins, is actually two bike parks in one. Morgins’ descents are known for being pure flow and having the best berms in all of Portes du Soleil. As for Champéry, it’s ly the bike park that requires the highest skill level to enjoy its trails. It’s home to the famous “Coupe du Monde” descent.

What do our clients say?

We spent this summer in Morzine with Mtb Spain and had a great time. Mario is a total pro, he has everything really well organized and makes sure everyone enjoys themselves at their own level. We went with friends and kids and everything was made easy, which is a huge plus for a dad with two kids visiting for the first time.
