The Cid Route by Bike: A Unique Adventure

Join MTB Spain on an epic journey along the Cid Route, a trip that follows in the footsteps of this medieval hero from Burgos to Valencia. This itinerary is designed for you to enjoy cycling, history and culture in every kilometre, while visiting ancient fortresses, castles and monasteries in the heart of Spain. You will ride through spectacular landscapes, including valleys, mountains and medieval villages.

Itinerary

Day 1: Burgos

Private transfer from Madrid to Burgos, a monumental city and starting point of our adventure. After hotel check-in, you will have free time to explore the city and its famous Gothic cathedral, a World Heritage Site. We will stay in a hotel in the old town, close to the cathedral.

Day 2: Burgos – Santo Domingo de Silos (65 km)

Our first stage runs through small rural villages to Santo Domingo de Silos, famous for its Benedictine monastery and Romanesque cloister. Dinner and accommodation in a rural hotel next to the monastery.

Day 3: Santo Domingo de Silos – El Burgo de Osma (80 km)

We will continue along trails surrounded by nature, crossing the spectacular Desfiladero de la Yecla gorge before reaching El Burgo de Osma, a medieval town with an impressive Gothic cathedral. Accommodation in a spa hotel with views over the town.

Day 4: El Burgo de Osma – Atienza (60 km)

Today we will enjoy a visit to the impressive Fortaleza de Gormaz, one of the largest in Europe, before arriving in Atienza, where a charming hotel experience awaits us in the heart of the historic centre.

Day 5: Atienza – Sigüenza (40 km)

We will begin the day with a visit to the Sigüenza Cathedral and its medieval castle. The day will be more relaxed, allowing us to enjoy the rich history and culture of this historic town. We will stay at the famous Parador de Sigüenza.

Day 6: Sigüenza – Molina de Aragón (70 km)

Today’s stage will take us through rugged landscapes and the Barranco del Río Dulce gorge. On arriving in Molina de Aragón, we will stay in a former palace converted into a hotel, with views of the medieval castle.

Day 7: Molina de Aragón – Albarracín (90 km)

We finish our route in one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, Albarracín, famous for its cobbled streets and medieval architecture. We will enjoy a stay in a traditional hotel with spectacular views of the mountainous landscape.

Day 8: Albarracín – Teruel (40 km)

From Albarracín, we will ride towards the city of Teruel, known for its impressive Mudejar architecture, a World Heritage Site. We will visit its famous Torre del Salvador tower and Teruel Cathedral. Accommodation in a central hotel with views over the city.

Day 9: Teruel – Rubielos de Mora (55 km)

On this stage we will cross fields and mountains until reaching Rubielos de Mora, a charming village with Gothic and Renaissance architecture. Accommodation in a boutique hotel in the heart of the historic centre.

Day 10: Rubielos de Mora – Sagunto (90 km)

Today we will ride through beautiful rural landscapes until reaching Sagunto, famous for its Roman castle and impressive theatre. After a brief visit to the historic centre, we will stay in a hotel on the outskirts of the city.

Day 11: Sagunto – Valencia (30 km)

The last stage will take us to the city of Valencia, where our adventure culminates. After exploring the City of Arts and Sciences and enjoying the city’s beaches, we will stay in a luxury hotel by the sea.

Day 12: Villages of the Dana – La Albufera (65 km)

An extra stage through the villages affected by the Dana storm, where we will tell you the story of what happened in this region.
You will also enjoy the natural beauty of La Albufera, with a walk through its wetlands and a delicious Valencian paella by the lake.

Payment and Cancellation Policy

To confirm the trip booking, payment will be made in three stages:

  • 25% at the time of booking.
  • 50% remaining must be paid 2 months before the trip.
  • Final 25% must be paid during the last month before departure.

Cancellation Policy

  • Up to 60 days before the trip: full refund of amounts paid.
  • Between 59 and 31 days before: 50% refund.
  • With less than 30 days before the trip: no refunds will be made.
