Camino de Santiago by Bike with a 24-Hour Support Vehicle and Guide

Group of MTBSPAIN cyclists with their support vehicle before a stage of the Camino de Santiago

Doing the Camino de Santiago with a support vehicle means riding light, with no panniers and nothing to worry about except enjoying the stage. MTBSPAIN has been doing it since 2007, always the same way: with a guide who rides with the group and a 24-hour support vehicle, on scheduled group departures or for private groups.

What is a Camino de Santiago with a support vehicle?

It is a way of doing the Camino in which a vehicle with a driver accompanies the group from start to finish. It is not just a luggage transfer service: the vehicle follows the route, meets you at the snack stops, carries spare parts and tools, and is there if anyone needs to stop. Unlike many packages that only move your bags from hotel to hotel, on our tours the support is complete and lasts 24 hours.

What the support vehicle does, moment by moment

  • Before setting off: it loads the suitcases and takes them to the next hotel. You leave with only what you need for the stage.
  • During the stage: it follows the group and sets up a snack stop halfway, with water, fruit and something to eat.
  • If there is a breakdown: it carries spare parts, tools and, if needed, a spare bike.
  • If someone gets tired, injured or the weather turns: it picks up whoever needs it and takes them to the hotel or the next meeting point.
  • On arrival: your luggage is already at the hotel, close to the end of the stage.
  • At night: we are still on call. Any problem at any time gets an answer — that is why we call it 24-hour support.

With a guide, not just a GPS track

The guide rides with you. They set the pace, know every turn and every variant to avoid the busiest walking sections, adapt the stage if the group is tired and tell you the history of the places you ride through. Guide and support vehicle work together: the guide always knows where the vehicle is and the vehicle always knows where the group is.

Camino de Santiago in a group

Scheduled group departures

Travelling solo, as a couple or with a couple of friends? Join a scheduled departure and share the Camino with other cyclists. Our next one is the Camino de Santiago by bike from León, 1 to 8 May 2027.

Tailor-made private groups

For groups of friends, families, cycling clubs or companies we organise the Camino exclusively for you: you choose the dates, the starting point and how many days you have, and we provide the guide, the support vehicle, the hotels and the logistics.

Who is it for?

  • Travellers in their 50s, 60s and 70s who want to cycle the Camino safely and without carrying weight.
  • Beginners who have never done a long bike trip.
  • Groups with mixed abilities: with e-bikes and the vehicle always close, nobody is left behind.
  • People short on time who want to spend their days riding, not looking for accommodation or fixing bikes.
  • Anyone who wants a worry-free Camino: hotels near the end of each stage, luggage sorted and someone to call for any problem.

Frequently asked questions

What is a support vehicle on the Camino de Santiago?

A vehicle with a driver that accompanies the group for the whole trip: it moves the luggage from hotel to hotel, sets up a snack stop halfway through the stage, carries spare parts and tools for mechanical assistance and picks up anyone who cannot or does not want to keep riding.

Is the support vehicle available all day?

Yes. With MTBSPAIN the support is 24 hours: during the stage it follows the group and after the stage there is always someone from the team on call and a vehicle available for any problem.

Can I get in the vehicle if I get tired or cannot finish a stage?

Yes, at any time. We take you to the hotel or to the point where you want to start riding again, and the next day you carry on with the group.

Can I do the Camino as a private group?

Yes. We organise the Camino for groups of friends, families, cycling clubs and companies, with the dates, route and number of stages that suit you best. We also have scheduled group departures.

Is it suitable for seniors or beginners?

Yes. With an e-bike, a guide and a support vehicle, cycling the Camino is within reach of people in their 50s, 60s and 70s and of riders who are not used to long rides. Before booking we talk to you to choose the right route and pace.

How much does a Camino with a support vehicle cost?

It depends on the route and the number of days: from €2,650 for the 7-day Camino from León, with e-bike, guide, support vehicle and hotels, to €4,900 for León to Santiago staying in Paradores.

Do you get the Compostela by bike?

Yes. Cyclists must ride at least the last 200 km to Santiago and get two stamps a day in their pilgrim passport. All our routes meet this requirement.
